OUR CRAFT
A 2,000-year-old technique, made for today.
Every Serendib piece begins as raw Sri Lankan cotton, hand-spun and hand-woven. Then it is painted by hand with a traditional batik tool, the tjanting, using natural dyes derived from indigo, turmeric, and pomegranate. This process takes up to 48 hours per piece, producing motifs that no machine can replicate.
